Washington Organic Week, September 8 – 15 is a celebration of Washington’s diverse and lush organic agriculture. Come to a gourmet organic cooking class, learn to brew an organic hard cider just in time for fall, sample organic, fair trade chocolates and attend a “good food” themed auction!
Tilth Producers of Washington is an organization that puts together organic farmers, marketers, restaurateurs and others in the food business in Washington. And they’ve organized Washington Organic Week (WOW)!
Enjoy a great cooking demonstrations with Seattle chef, restauranteur and author Greg Atkinson, an organic beer making class, and an organic chocolate and beer sampling at Theo Chocolate!

The Seattle chef, and author of cookbooks like West Coast Cooking and Northwest Ingredients will be demonstrating his skills and preparing a delightful supper. Just in time for fall, come to The 21 Acres Center for Local Food and Sustainable Living and see award-winning homebrewer and co-owner of Populuxe Brewing, Peter Charbonnier as he takes you through the steps of the organic extract brewing process. Learn step by step the sanitation, brewing, fermentation and bottling process. You’ll join him in brewing a delicious Organic Pale Ale and tasting it as well.
Bear and Nancy Bishop, the owners of Alpenfire Cider, Washington’s Only Organic Hard Cider, grown and bottled in Port Townsend. They will teach you how to choose the proper apples for cider, juice apples, and when to sulfite. Get a little chemistry lesson in pH and acidity. Plus, sample cider, beer and enjoy salty pretzels. Theo Chocolate, the only fair trade, organic, bean-to-bar factory in the US, is hosting a WOW event that is a great end to the work week! The Organic Beer, Cider and Chocolate Tasting lets you try pairing great, organic beer and cider with delicious, craft-made Theo chocolate at Theo’s Fremont chocolate factory.
VIP Tickets cost $25/person and include exclusive tastings and a guided tasting experience at the Theo factory. The VIP tour is from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. General admission tickets are $20/person.
