On Friday, December 7, a diverse lineup of local rock acts will bring their combined talents to the Triple Door for the first annual SMooCH (Seattle Musicians for Children’s Hospital) Show. Brad (Stone Gossard (pictured), Shawn Smith), Chris Friel Orchestra with special guests Pete Droge and Carrie Akre, Stag, The Young Evils, The Sangster Family Band and Rachel Flotard will all donate performances to raise funds for Seattle Children’s at an evening concert and auction.
The decision to join the bill was an easy one for former Visqueen frontwoman Flotard. “I haven’t played live in over a year, but as a new mother I was unable to say no to this request. They could have asked me to breakdance nude at a benefit for Children’s and I would have.”
“Children’s Hospital is an extremely important community asset that provides incredible care and hope for kids,” said event organizer Pete Nordstrom. “What’s most impressive is that they provide the same high quality of care to anyone who needs it, regardless of means and circumstances. We want to create an annual event where the Seattle music community comes together to celebrate and support Children’s Hospital.”
“We are thrilled to be the beneficiary of such an eclectic event. The support Seattle Children’s has received from the community is immeasurable and we are forever grateful,” said Aileen Kelly, Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation director.
Reserved tickets are $150 and $100 for general admission/standing room; admission includes complimentary beer, wine and appetizers. The evening also features raise the paddle and a silent auction for items, including signed prints by renowned music photographers Lance Mercer and Sam Jones. 100% of event proceeds benefit Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Doors open Friday December 7 at 6:00pm; the show (ages 21+) begins at 7:00pm. Tickets are available now at The Triple Door. Those who can’t attend but still want to support the event and the cause are encouraged to make a donation at Seattle Children’s instead of buying tickets.
